Institute
Cologne Center for Genomics (CCG)
The Cologne Center for Genomics (CCG) has been established since 2004 as a central research institute of the University of Cologne dedicated to promoting genomic research by facilitating advanced instrumentation, expertise and cross-campus collaboration. The CCG is part of the West German Genome Center (WGGC), a joint scientific organization of the Universities in Aachen, Bonn, Düsseldorf and Cologne. Together the four sites combine a very broad spectrum of technology and expertise in the field of genomics.
Major Activities
The center has a superior infrastructure for all kinds of sequencing, gene mapping and whole genome association studies in complex diseases as well as the validation of copy number variations. It offers various gene expression profiling platforms (Affymetrix, Illumina, 10x Genomics) that may be used for high-throughput production and cross platform validations.
We are focusing on massive parallel DNA sequencing platforms, also called next generation sequencing, which have the potential to dramatically accelerate biological and medical research.
