Affymetrix GeneTitan™ MC
The Cologne Center for Genomics is the first institution in Germany, which operates the new multi-channel scanner GeneTitan™ MC from Affymetrix. The device combines hybridization, fluidics, scanning and basic data analysis in a single unit and is designed for a new generation of low cost GeneChip® Array Plates.
It supports gene expression studies on 16-, 24- and 96-format and and genotyping studies on 24- and 96-format array plates. The system processes two plates per day and up to 750 samples per week.
The backwards-compatible expression profiling GeneChip® High-throughput (HT) Perfect Match (PM) Array Plate System for human, mouse, and rat is counted among the first products of the new platform.
The GeneTitan™ MC is suitable to precess the new Axiom™ series designed for genome-wide association and candidate gene association studies. One of the key features of this arrays is that researchers are no longer reliant on fixed panels, but can choose freely from a database of several millions of variations.
The work flow integrates an automated target preparation station developed jointly by Affymetrix and Beckman Coulter.
