Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f)

for a mathematician, statistician, physicist, bioinformatician or someone with a related quantitative background with an interest in genetic research questions as a full position (39,83 working hours/week; 100% position). The post is based in the research group of Prof. Dr. Michael Nothnagel (Statistical Genetics/Bioinformatics; http://statgen.uni-koeln.de) and available for 5 years. The opportunity for a habilitation is given. The salary is according to public pay group based on the German E13 TV-L scale if terms and conditions under collective bargaining law are fulfilled. 

Tasks:

Development and application of analysis approaches in the field of Statistical Genetics (highthroughput data in the life sciences, human population genetics, statistical forensic genetics); to a smaller extent, provision of statistical support in collaborations with biological and medical research groups; assistance in the university curriculum 

Qualification:

Candidates are required to have a PhD in Statistical Genetics, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Bioinformatics or a related quantitative field. Working knowledge of genetics, population genetics and epidemiology as well as experience in scientific programming and with high-performance computing clusters are explicitly desirable; excellent English skills The University of Cologne is an equal opportunities employer.
